Public Meeting March 30, 2010
"DEFENDING THE PUBLIC EDUCATION OUR CHILDREN DESERVE"
The Koksilah Parent Community and The Friends of Cowichan Kids are pleased to invite our partners and community members to a public event on Tuesday, March 30 starting at 7 PM in the Mesachie Room at the Cowichan Community Centre on James Street in Duncan entitled:
The purpose of the meeting is to share information concerning the budget challenges our schools are experiencing and encourage community action to increase the level of public education funding.
There will be a short description of our current funding environment followed by the personal accounts from some of our longest serving employees in providing quality learning for our kids.
We will then welcome Mike Zlotnik, President of the Charter for Public Education Network who will speak to us about the value of public education and the urgency for treasuring its promise for all our kids now and in the future.
After this we will ask our community to share their ideas while reflecting on some guiding questions:
- What do you value about our public schools?
- How can trustees and community compel the provincial government to supply funding which meets our expectations for quality learning and working conditions?
The Koksilah Parent Community and The Friends of Cowichan Kids welcome everyone in our valley in the hope we can advance the learning conditions for our children.
