CPEN is on the move! It's our 5th anniversary!
- Our renewed web site is up
- The Charter for Public Education Network Board of Driectors is expanding and is focused.
- An action plan and new budget are under development.
The current economic climate invites promotion of investment in education. Unemployed citizens need,a nd are seeking, greater access to post-secondary education. Retraining needs will increase.
Restoration of cuts to services for kindergarten to grade twelve students, reductions of class sizes, extra support for special needs and infrastructure capital spending (seismic upgrading) are wise investments for the future. New jobs in the education sector are a very cost effective way to stimulate the economy. The public is receptive to protection of services, including deficit budgeting, to do so.
A strong CPEN will be an important voice in public debate, especially leading up to the May 12 election. Public education is under attack. The Charter for Public Education panel heard from BC citizens and created a unique, community based set of values for public education. Those values are threatened by many voices in the community. But CPEN can be a strong voice for what we believe in.
To conitnue that important work we are asking for your support. The strength of our network is its broad base and commitment to public education for all.
Please take the time to support CPEN and stay connected to this important work!
